Scotland:

The Isle of Arran and the mainland

a long weekend (3 nights) - £1,350

Friday 1st August - Monday 4th august 2025

The great thing about this trip is how dramatic and wild the landscape is and how quiet the roads are just a short ferry ride away from the mainland. A wild Scottish experience distilled into a long weekend! If you’re coming from London, the 8.30am Friday morning train to Glasgow still gives you time to cycle a wild mountain road for 20km in the late afternoon before arriving at your first hotel.

This tour will start and finish in Glasgow. We will be taking ferries as we go moving on from the Isle of Arran to Claonaig at the northern end of Kintyre and from there to Tarbert and across by ferry and road to Tighnabruaich before returning from there via Dunoon back towards Glasgow. For keener groups, there’s an option to add the delightful Kilberry peninsular loop onto the second day of cycling or a smaller loop prior to arriving at Tighnabruich. It will be hilly but not too tough in terms of distance covered each day, (50 - 80kms). Arran’s two distilleries are a contrast of the new and the more traditional.

Great hotels with delicious food, (including the dramatic Stonefield Castle if they have space for us).

The cycling is hilly but the rides aren’t too long and the pace isn’t too high (50-80km a day)

All food, some wine and the “whisky manager’s distillery tour” fees included.

Wild swimming possible at Stonefield Castle and Tighnabruaich

Bike hire available.

Support vehicle and a guide

Optional additional Thursday night in Glasgow if you want a ‘lazy’ start to the trip

Custom tours available
